What is the cheapest Henry Hoover?

The cheapest Henry you can buy at the moment is the James. However, it’s possible you might find the Henry or the Hetty at a cheaper price in a sale. We’d recommend waiting out for the Henry or the Hetty, but the James is a great vacuum if that’s all you can get hold of.

We’re all being hit by cost of living increases at the moment. And of course, if you’re already having problems paying your bills, the last thing you need is for your vacuum to break and you need to buy a new one. However, if this is your dilemma, a Henry is one of the best choices to make seeing as he’s so reliable it’s unlikely you’ll need to replace him any time soon.

In this article we go through the cheapest Henry Hoovers you can get hold of in 2023 for specific use cases – so whether you need a wet vac or a high-capacity cleaner, this is the article for you.

The cheapest Henry Hoover models made by Numatic

Note – we’re not including businesses here. It’s possible that if you’re able to reclaim VAT and qualify for business pricing at some retailers you’ll pay less for these or similar models – but we’re just focusing on home users buying these hoovers from popular retailers.

If you’re looking for the absolute cheapest Numatic Henry hoover to purchase, you have one of three options:

Blue James hoover

The James (JVP180)

Red Henry hoover with hose

The Henry (HVR160)

Pink Hetty hoover

The Hetty (HET160)

Generally the Hetty and Henry stay around the same price. However, the James is usually priced a little lower. It’s entirely possible you’ll come across a deal which makes the Henry or the Hetty slightly cheaper than the James, and if you do find this our recommendation would be to go for the Henry or the Hetty (they are effectively the same vacuum.) James is great (we’ve written an extensive review about him here) but he isn’t quite as good as his brother or his sister.

It’s possible that on rare occasions you will also find the Henry XL Plus or the Charles for sale at a similar price to the other vacuums – in which case, you should only go for these if they meet your needs. 90% of households will be absolutely fine with a regular Henry, Hetty or James.

Buying the Henry that meets your needs

As we’ve mentioned, it’s important to buy the Henry that best meets your needs. If you need a carpet cleaner, for example, you’re going to have to splash out for a George, and while we love the George, it’s not the cheapest carpet cleaner out there on the market, nor is it the easiest to use.

If you need a high capacity vacuum, for example, or you need a cordless vacuum, you aren’t going to be happy with the cheap Henry models. It’s important that rather than just considering the cost, you also consider the value of the item you’re buying, and if a regular Henry hoover isn’t going to meet your needs, it’s pointless buying one that’s cheap.

We’ve written reviews on the vast majority of Numatic products and vacuums – we’ve linked to a few below so you can get a feel for what each model does and whether they’ll be suitable for you. We’ve also gone into a few use cases in this article as to which Henry would be most suitable for you if you’re looking for a cordless vacuum, a wet vac or a high-capacity vac.

The cheapest cordless Henry Hoover

The cheapest cordless Henry at the time of writing is the Henry (or Hetty) Cordless. Currently Numatic only makes two cordless vacs – the Henry Cordless which is the standard Henry but with batteries instead of a cable, and the Henry (or Hetty) Quick, which is a stick vacuum. We love the Quick, but it’s very pricey. If you need a cordless vac, the Henry or Hetty Cordless is the one to go for.

Bear in mind that the Henry Cordless only has a 6L capacity with around half the suction of the corded model. He is a bit lighter at 6.4kg and he takes around 3.5 hours to charge which gives you about 30 minutes of runtime. However, whether these compromises in performance are worth the convenience of not having to plug Henry in is up to you.

At the time of writing the Henry Cordless is actually quite difficult to find. You may be better served going for the Quick, as it’s far easier to get hold of one in major electronics stores or on the internet.

Our rating – 4 stars

Henry Cordless is a fantastic vacuum if cordless is an absolute must – but be aware, you are having to deal with some compromises in performance.

The cheapest Henry wet vac

The cheapest Henry wet vac at the time of writing this article is the Charles, also known by his model number the CVC370. Charles is a wet and dry vac, and he comes with a hugely powerful 1060W motor. He is derived primarily from Henry’s commercial line, and comes with a 9L wet or dry capacity and weighs around 9kg. With a cleaning range of 26.4m, you won’t have to worry about plugging and unplugging him to get the job done.

Charles isn’t, however, a carpet cleaner. For that, you’ll need the George or the Henry Wash. He can only suck up wet spills – he can’t clean carpets or upholstery for you. Additionally Charles is quite heavy – around 9kg, so you need to make sure you can handle his weight. Due to the method of construction of all Numatic vacuums (which is basically a tub with an electric motor attached to it) Charles can be a bit bulky, and he’s not ideal for people with limited mobility or those who have lots of stairs in their homes.

At the time of writing you can pick up a Charles for less than £200 – although again, we’re not guaranteeing this is the price at the time you’re viewing this article. For an up-to-date price, click the link below.

Quick review of the Charles

Our rating – 4.5 stars

We love the Charles – sometimes he’s called the Henry Wash, but he’ll clean up all your spills and then some. However, if you need a carpet cleaner, you’ll have to call in his big brother, George.

The cheapest high-capacity Henry Hoover

At the time of writing this is probably the Henry XL Plus. The XL Plus features a 15L capacity as opposed to the 9L capacity of the regular Henry Hoover. He comes with all of the standard attachments that the regular Henry does but he’s perfect for big DIY jobs as you just don’t have to empty him as often. The Henry XL Plus is derived from Numatic’s commercial range of cleaners, and includes a very long 1.25m cable so you don’t need to plug and unplug constantly while cleaning.

The Henry XL Plus is very big, however, as you might expect – you’ll need to ensure you’re able to carry him around as he weighs around 10kg. Additionally, he’s only a dry vac – if you need a wet vac, you’ll have to go for the Charles or the George which are more expensive.

At the time of writing you’ll likely pay between £180 and £200 for the Henry XL Plus. However, this could vary, and we’re not guaranteeing any of the links we include in this article offer the Henry XL Plus for this price.

Our rating – 4.5 stars

The Henry XL Plus is a great alternative to the regular Henry if you need more capacity. He is bulky however – so not great for you if you have mobility issues.

Where can I buy a cheap Henry Hoover?

Henry is so ubiquitous that you’ll find him almost anywhere. You’ll almost certainly find him in your local branch of Tesco or Asda, larger stores like Costco or even DIY stores like B&Q or Screwfix. However, supermarkets will tend to have a more limited range and will likely just stick to the core models – Henry and Hetty, usually the HVR160 or the HET160.

If you’re looking for some of the other cheap Henry hoover models such as the James, you might have to get these either from electronics stores like Currys, or online at places like Amazon or Appliances Direct.

I’d recommend Amazon as you can usually get some good deals and the customer care is very good. As I write this, it’s Prime Day and you can pick up a Henry for around 20% off the usual retail price which is fantastic value for money. However, if price is a concern to you what you can do is track the price on Amazon using something like CamelCamelCamel and you can then time your purchase to ensure you’re getting the best deal.
