The Henry Hoover is a versatile and iconic vacuum cleaner. The reason he’s so versatile is because of the huge range of attachments you can buy for him – probably more than any other hoover out there on the market. What comes as standard as a home vacuum cleaner can very easily be transformed into a car cleaner, a hard floor cleaner, sometimes even a carpet cleaner.

In this article we’re going to take a closer look at all of the attachments you can buy for your Henry – including all of the attachments you get as standard as well as those you can buy aftermarket, either from Numatic themselves or from third-party manufacturers.

Beyond the attachments, we’ll also discuss essential accessories like filters and bags, along with handy extension tubes and storage solutions to keep everything organised. By the end of this guide, you’ll have a comprehensive understanding of all the accessories and attachments available for your Henry Hoover, making your cleaning routines more effective and efficient.

Attachments That Come With Your Henry

In this section we go through all of the attachments that come with your Henry – which models they come with, what you can use them for and where to buy a spare if you need to. Be aware that this is constantly changing, and this information might be out of date by the time you read it, so ensure you check the box to know exactly what you’re getting when you buy.

Henry Combi Floor Tool

The Numatic Combi Floor Tool is a versatile attachment that comes with Henry, known for its exceptional cleaning performance. Its dual-function design allows seamless transitions between hard floor and carpet settings, making it ideal for various floor types. In hard floor mode, soft bristles efficiently capture dust and debris without causing damage, while the carpet mode engages retractable brushes to lift embedded dirt from carpets and rugs. The 360-degree swivel neck enhances maneuverability, allowing easy access to tight corners and obstacles. Compatible with most Henry Hoover models, the Combi Floor Tool is a practical addition that ensures your floors remain spotless and well-maintained with ease.

The combi floor tool typically comes standard with the Henry, Henry Xtra, Henry Allergy, James, Hetty, George and Charles. It should fit all Numatic models.

Henry Stainless Steel Tube Set

The Henry stainless steel tube set typically includes three tubes for extended reach and versatility during cleaning tasks. Made from durable stainless steel, these tubes are both lightweight and adjustable, making reaching into tough spots and high areas much easier than only with the Flomax hose.

The stainless steel tube set should come with every Numatic model. Aftermarket options are available with different lengths and configurations, so ensure you’re buying the tubes that best meet your needs.

FloMax Hose

The Numatic Flomax tube is a vital accessory that accompanies the Henry Hoover, contributing to its outstanding cleaning performance. The tube’s unique tapered design and 2 metre length is designed to optimize airflow and suction efficiency, ensuring your Henry operates at its best. By preventing clogging and maintaining consistent suction power, the Flomax tube enables your vacuum to pick up dirt and debris more effectively.

Again – the flomax hose comes with all Henry, James, Hetty, George and Charles models.

Henry Brush and Crevice Kit

The crevice Tool is a highly practical accessory designed to reach tight spaces with ease. Its slim profile allows effortless cleaning along baseboards, between furniture, and in tight corners. With powerful suction, the crevice tool effectively captures stubborn dirt and debris. Made from durable materials, it ensures long-lasting performance.

The mattress tool is perfect for deep cleaning sheets, mattresses, and couches. It is also gentle enough to use on delicate materials, keeping your furniture free of dirt and stains. The specialized mattress attachment from Henry effectively removes dust and allergens, creating a more hygienic living space.

Henry’s dusting brush features soft bristles for gentle dusting of delicate surfaces, and is perfect for reaching those tough spots that are often overlooked by other cleaning tools. It excels at tidying shelves, blinds, and delicate surfaces, making it a valuable addition to any cleaning toolkit

Wet Floor Tool

The wet floor tool is designed for the Charles, and is designed for cleaning up large spills and messes from hard floors. The wide nozzle with rubber squeegee efficiently collects and extracts liquids from your floor. This floor head has a narrow profile and lightweight design consisting simply of 2 rubber squeegees that trap and guide the liquid into the floor head where the powerful suction takes it into the collecting drum. Just like most Numatic Henry’s the design is simple but effective. Not only can it clean up wet spills , it also leaves the floor dry.

This floor head is specifically designed for Charles but can be used with the other wet vacuums – Henry Wash and George. However these last two vacuums come with their own specialised floor heads so you shouldn’t need another.

Be warned – if you buy a wet floor tool and fit it to a dry vac it will fit on the end of the hose, but you should never use a dry vac to suck up water as you’ll damage the motor

It doesn’t appear you are able to buy a replacement of this floor head from My Henry, Amazon or other stores. So if you need a replacement, you probably need to make contact with Numatic

Specific Attachments You Need to Buy Yourself

AiroBrush

The Numatic AiroBrush floor tool is a specialised attachment for Henry Hoover vacuums, featuring a powered rotating brush head for enhanced cleaning performance. Unlike the standard floor tool, the AiroBrush’s brush agitates carpets and rugs, loosening embedded dirt, pet hair, and debris.

The AiroBrush is particularly useful for homes with pets and homes with carpets and rugs. It comes as standard with the Henry Pet. The AiroBrush can also handle hard floors, and it’s powered brush gives you a far deeper and longer-lasting clean. However, for delicate hard floors, the standard combi floor tool with soft bristles might be more suitable to prevent damage.

The AiroBrush is a great bit of kit and if you have carpeted floors or pets in your home, I’d highly recommend you get one.

Car and Stair Kit

The car and stair kit is designed to expand the capabilities of Henry Hoover vacuum cleaners, specifically for cleaning car interiors and staircases. It includes special tools such as a 1.5 metre flexible hose extension, flexible crevice tool, and the airobrush 140. These attachments help users effectively clean tight corners and confined spaces. The kit is compatible with various Henry Hoover models that have a 32mm round vacuum hose – which is basically all of them.

The hose extension attaches to the end of Henry’s hose, almost doubling its reach. By doing so, you can effectively sit Henry in one spot and clean the whole interior without moving him from one side to the other.

The airobrush 140 is the smaller and more compact version of the airobrush, and is the perfect size for stairs and cleaning the interior of the car. It has turbo powered rotating brushes, great for collecting pet hair and stubborn mess which seems to stick to the car’s upholstery. The airobrush comes standard with a Henry Pet

The crevice tool is longer than the standard crevice tool and is also flexible, perfect for getting into all those nooks and crannies in the car’s interior.

If you’ve got a car and you use the standard attachments to keep it clean, I’d definitely recommend a car and stair kit.

Hard Floor Tool

The hard floor tool comes standard in Henry Xtra and features soft bristles for gentle cleaning of hard floor surfaces without causing damage. The tool has a wider cleaning path for more efficient cleaning and glides smoothly across hard floors. It is suitable for cleaning delicate floors like hardwood, laminate, tile, and linoleum. The soft bristles pick up fine dust and debris, leaving hard floors clean and polished. Using this tool improves cleaning performance on hard floors compared to the standard combi tool or the AiroBrush, which is more optimised for carpets.

A hard floor tool is fantastic for keeping your tile, linoleum, vinyl and hardwood floors clean – and it’s a highly recommended accessory for any Henry owner.

Extra Long Crevice Tool

The extra long crevice tool is standard with Henry Home, reaches narrow and tight spaces, such as gaps and corners, for efficient dust removal. The tool’s slim design allows for thorough cleaning in areas like behind radiators, under appliances, and between car seats.

I love the extra long crevice tool because it saves me having to move furniture to get behind things to clean. I’d really recommend you get one.

Additional Accessories and Attachments

Numatic Genuine Henry Filters

You can buy two types of filters – aftermarket and genuine. We highly recommend the genuine filters as sometimes aftermarket filters can be of quite poor quality and will void your warranty

The thing you must watch out for is that different Henrys have different sized cylinders, and you need to ensure you buy the correct one. For example, a Henry 160 will have a different sized cylinder than a 200 model or a Charles, and therefore the filters will be a different size. Make sure you buy the right one that’s compatible with your exact hoover.

If you aren’t sure, look for the sticker and the barcode on the top of your Henry. You will see something like this:

“NRV 200-C2”

The “200” in this example refers to the size of the cylinder. The three most common sizes of Henry are “160”, 240 and “370”.

Filters come in 2 sizes – an 11 inch and a 12 inch

An 11 Inch filter will fit 160 models (6 litre capacity cylinders)

A 12 inch filter will fit the 240 (9 litre capacity cylinders) and 370 models (George and Charles)

Not compatible with:

The Microfresh filter comes standard with Henry Pet and contains a charcoal layer which traps and neutralises pet odours. This doesn’t exclusively need to be used for Henry Pet and can be used in any Henry model – except Henry Allergy – so if you do need a replacement filter you can upgrade to the Microfresh filter for a cleaner, fresher home.

Numatic Genuine Hepa-Flo Bags

A quick piece of advice from someone who’s used a Henry for nearly twenty years – don’t buy aftermarket bags. Honestly, the Numatic branded bags are so cheap that it really isn’t worth it – you might save a small amount on buying inferior quality bags but you will pay for it in the long run as they won’t be as good as the Numatic bags.

There are a few different versions of the Numatic bag but generally you should stick with the newer Hepa-Flo bags which are designed to fit all models of Henry, including the smaller and larger ones. These are available very cheaply at Amazon but also at most retailers such as Tesco, Asda and B&M Bargains.

I’d personally recommend you get them on Amazon and set up a “subscribe and save”  – that way you’ll never run out of Henry bags!

Numatic bags are exactly the same as Henry bags and can be used interchangeably. The Hepa-flo bags come in two different sizes so getting the right bag for your Henry is important. It is pretty simple however, as the 160 and 240 type vacuums – which are the 6L and 9L capacity vacuums – both take the same sized bag. It is only the 15 litre vacuums – George and Charles which need the larger Numatic Bags

Storing Henry’s Attachments

While Henry does have space for storing some of his attachments at the back of the cylinder, unfortunately he’s not particularly well equipped with attachment storage, and if you do end up buying a lot of aftermarket attachments you might end up with the dilemma of where to keep them. Unfortunately in my experience if you don’t keep these sort of things together, they tend to get lost. In my view you’ve got two options:

Storage Caddy

Some online retailers sell small storage caddies that clip onto your Henry’s stainless steel tube and can hold a few of either the standard attachments that come with Henry but also some of the aftermarket attachments you can buy. I think this is a great idea, but these caddies aren’t very versatile as they can usually only hold two or three attachments at a time.

Storage bag

Henry Storage Bag

This is my preferred solution and is probably the easiest one –  you can get hold of small bags that will hold your Henry and all his accessories, so you’ll never lose them – they’re always in one place. You’ll get all the attachments you’d ever want, plus the Flomax hose and extension tubes all in this convenient, portable and durable little bag.

Compatible with:

Henry   Hetty   Charles   George   James   Henry XL Plus Henry Pet Henry Eco Henry Cordless   Henry Allergy Henry Quick

To conclude, there are countless attachments you can buy for your Henry to make him the most versatile vacuum cleaner you can buy. Make sure you buy decent quality attachments and ensure you store them properly as they’re easy to lose.
