Green Henry Pet vacuum

I am a pet owner – I have a dog and a cat. Pets can bring us so much joy and happiness, and are basically another member of the family. But good comes with bad. This includes muddy footprints, furniture that collects pet hair, emergency cleaning like overturned pot plants, and that “doggy smell” that just won’t go away.

Finding a vacuum cleaner that can handle the challenge of keeping a pet-filled house clean is as important as finding a plush dog bed or a cat tree. Having a vacuum that is not up to the task is very frustrating as us pet owners often have to vacuum daily

What makes Henry Hoover Pet special, and is it a good choice for you as a pet owner? In this review, I’ll go over the good, the bad and the stinky (or not so stinky) features.

Pros

  • Charcoal activated filter removes pet odour
  • Airobrushes are great at removing pet hair
  • Large capacity

Cons

  • Bulky to get up the stairs
  • Smaller Airobrush can be tricky to get the hang of
  • Ongoing costs of buying bags

Our Verdict

I rate Henry Petcare very highly. Dealing with pet hair can be a major hassle, but thanks to Henry Pet and his Airobrush, it’s no longer a source of stress. The larger capacity is essential when dealing with pets, and the charcoal infused filter does an excellent job of eliminating any lingering pet smells. The result is a fresher, cleaner-smelling home.

Tools and Attachments

For all your cleaning needs, Henry Pet has the perfect tool. The Henry Petcare vacuum cleaner is equipped with all the essential features of a genuine Henry model. It boasts a powerful motor for efficient cleaning and comes with the standard attachments for versatile use and all round cleaning. These include:

  • Combination floor tool
  • Dusting brush
  • Mattress and upholstery tool
  • Crevice tool

Combi Floor Tool

The floorhead attachment for Henry the vacuum is a versatile tool that seamlessly transitions from hard floors to carpets. With Henry’s powerful suction, it provides consistent and effective cleaning on any type of flooring. A simple flick of the switch on the tool allows you to adjust between modes, raising or lowering the brush as needed.

Henry vacuum combi floor tool

While the floorhead works well for general vacuuming, it may not be as effective in removing pet hair. This is because it relies solely on suction and does not have a rotating brush to agitate and collect stubborn hair from carpets. For better pet hair removal, the Henry Petcare model comes with two turbo-powered rotating brush heads specifically designed to solve this issue.

Dusting Brush

Henry’s dusting brush is perfect for reaching those tough spots that are often overlooked by other cleaning tools. It excels at tidying shelves, blinds, and delicate surfaces. While it may not be the best for pet hair, its versatility makes it a valuable addition to any cleaning toolkit

Upholstery Nozzle

Mattress and Upholstery Tool

This tool is perfect for deep cleaning sheets, mattresses, and couches. It is also gentle enough to use on delicate materials, keeping your furniture free of dirt and stains. The specialized mattress attachment from Henry effectively removes dust and allergens, creating a more hygienic living space.

Crevice Nozzle

Henry’s crevice nozzle is the ultimate tool for reaching into tight spaces. Whether you’re taking on a DIY project, cleaning out your car, or tidying up after furry friends, this versatile attachment will make the task a breeze. From hidden corners to narrow crevices, the crevice nozzle ensures that no spot in your home goes untouched

Are Henry Pet’s Attachments Good Quality

Henry’s attachments, like all Numatic products, are constructed from strong plastic designed to withstand frequent use without easily breaking. This consistent level of quality guarantees that Henry will continue to be a dependable cleaning partner for many years. You can confidently tackle any cleaning job knowing that the durability of the attachments won’t be an issue.

Features

The Henry Pet model boasts all the same excellent features of the standard Henry vacuum: an uncomplicated design, an extended reach, hassle-free cord rewinding, and convenient storage for on-board tools. However, this version is specifically designed for pet owners, with an increased capacity of 9L (compared to 6L), an activated charcoal filter, and powerful turbo brush heads known as AiroBrush.

Airobrush

The Airobrush is a powerful brush specifically built for removing stubborn pet hair from carpet. He actually comes with two brushes of different sizes and functions – a larger Airobrush 270 and a smaller AiroBrush 140.

When comparing the larger Airobrush 270 to the smaller airobrush 140, then the 270 is far superior and can easily remove pet hair in 1-2 runs, which the smaller brush repeatedly fails to collect.

Airobrush
Airobrush 140 vacuum attachment

The smaller brush is most useful on smaller areas, like stairs, and can be used on furniture and in the car.

Although Henry Pet is a surprisingly quiet vacuum, when the airobrush is attached and using the suction of the vacuum cleaner to turbo-spin the brushes, an effect of this is that it’s definitely louder with the airobrush attached.

It’s worth noting that the spinning brush isn’t removable, which can make maintenance and cleaning more tricky. To clean pet (and other) hair from the brush, you need to untangle and cut hair free manually. That’s not an overly pleasant task and may be challenging if you have some dexterity or joint complaints.

The airbrush 140 attachment, by its nature and intended use, is inherently flexible and maneuverable, which makes it great for cleaning uprights on stairs and furniture. But, this can take a bit of getting used to as it can turn and bend in weird and unexpected ways.

Filter

Just like Henry, Henry Pet boasts a two-stage filtration system that is designed to keep your home free of pet hair and dander. However, the difference in Henry Pet lies in the improved filter surrounding the motor – an activated charcoal microfresh filter. This specialized filter not only captures pet-related particles but also deactivates any odor-producing molecules, ensuring that your house remains fresh and free of unpleasant pet smells.

Hepaflo filtration bags

The second stage of the filtration system is the HepaFlo bag, specifically designed to collect and trap dust and debris. These bags are large and thick with a generous capacity of 9L, making them perfect for homes with pets that tend to create more mess. Even with daily vacuuming and two dogs, you can expect to only change the bag on a monthly basis, saving you time and effort

Replacing the bags is a breeze as they come equipped with a convenient tab for easy closure once removed. This ensures that no dust or debris escapes during the process – what goes in stays in. While there is an ongoing cost for replacement bags, they come in a box of 10 and are unlikely to be used up in a year even for a household with multiple pets

Storage

Henry Pet with tools stored

Designed for convenience, Henry Pet has onboard cable storage and additional space for two favorite tools, or more if they are nested. Never again will you have to frantically search through cluttered cupboards for your go-to cleaning equipment. With Henry Pet, they are always at your fingertips, neatly stored on the back side of the vacuum.

Never again will you have to frantically search through cluttered cupboards for your go-to cleaning equipment. Ease of Use

Henry’s rubber wheels do roll smoothly on carpet and hard floors, but like all canister vacuums, getting Henry to follow you around the house and not get caught on table legs and walls can be an art form. He has a rubber bumper running around the outside of him, which does have a tendency to stick him to surfaces.

The carry handle is great for moving him around the house, but he is still 8kg, so it can be tricky lugging him up the stairs. Especially when on the move and the wand is in the storage slot, it doesn’t feel very secure.

Henry Pet is easy to assemble without referring to the manual, and there are some neat conformations of the wand to reach high areas. The wand and hose pieces don’t click but slide within each other. Some people feel that this is a bit flimsy, and there have been reports of the plastic splitting.

Maneuverability of the wand is excellent and the clever nozzle design makes it easy to get between chairs and even under beds.

It’s easy to switch between carpets and hard floors when using the combi tool.

Bags are easy to access when the need arises – just unclip the lid and pull the filter off to get to the bags. The cord winder is incredibly user-friendly and efficient, making it one of the most dependable on the market. It eliminates the need for any manual retractors and reduces the risk of potential malfunctions.

Use on Carpet

Henry Pet excels on medium and short-pile carpets. For general cleaning with the combi floor tool, the results and performance are excellent. Because of the high suction, he can be difficult to push and pull on long-pile carpets, even with the suction reduced.

Henry Pet is so powerful, it can even lift some lighter rugs off the floor. There is an adjustable vent on the wand to reduce the pressure if needed. As a bonus, this doesn’t result in that annoying high-pitched noise either.

The main claim to fame with Henry Pet is the Airobrush, and these perform admirably on carpet – even with the most challenging vacuuming task of collecting pet hair, they are up to the job.

Use on Hard Floors

Henry shines when it comes to hard floor cleaning. With a simple switch to hard floor mode, Henry’s powerful suction effortlessly picks up dirt and debris. The wide cleaning path allows you to cover larger areas in a shorter amount of time.

The brushes have clever gaps that pick up all spills without snowploughing or lifting the head to collect debris

Car Cleaning

As a corded vacuum, Henry Pet is not the most convenient option when it comes to cleaning your car. Unless you have easy access to a power outlet in your garage or a long extension cord, using Henry for car cleaning may prove to be a challenge.

Additionally, his bulky size and cords can easily get caught around your tires, causing frustration.

However, with the handy attachment of a mattress tool or airobrush directly to the hose, Henry becomes the perfect tool for deep cleaning seats, floor wells, and boots. The crevice tool is also essential for reaching those tight spaces between and under seats

Comparison to other Henry Vacuum Cleaners

Henry Xtra

Henry Xtra is another vacuum in the Henry Range, which is comparable to Henry Pet. Xtra comes with the large Airobrush, an additional hard floor tool, as well as the same 9L capacity.

Henry Xtra

Henry XL Plus

Henry XL Plus should also be considered as it has an even bigger capacity of 15L, and comes with the smaller Airobrush 140, along with an additional hard floor tool.

Henry Home

For those in need of more attachments for general vacuuming, look no further than the Henry Home model. Along with the airobrush 270 and a hard floor tool, Henry Home also boasts a variety of other attachments for all your cleaning needs. It may have a smaller capacity of 6L compared to Henry Pet’s 9L, but its versatility makes up for it

Henry Quick

If you have lighter shedding animals in your home, consider the Henry Quick Pet upright cordless vacuum cleaner. While not as powerful as other Henry Pet and only possessing a bag capacity of 1L, it still offers convenience for quick cleaning.

Numatic Henry

An alternative if you want a classic Numatic Henry or if you already have a pre-existing Henry is to purchase a Petkit to add to your Henry. The pet kit is compatable with other Henry models and consists of the Airobrush 270, Airobrush 140 as well as a charcoal activated filter.
