Since the first Henry vacuum cleaner rolled off the production line in 1981, the family has seen many more additions. The robust design has changed little, but with simple changes, the variety of models ensures that there is a Henry for every need. Trying to decipher who is who in the Henry vacuum range and what their function or difference is can be confusing to say the least.
In this guide I will give a brief overview of each Henry vacuum in the Henry Hoover range starting with Henry himself, which will serve as a benchmark for all other models.
Table of Contents
When comparing the Henry vacuum range, the main differences between models are
- Capacity
- Weight
- Cleaning range
- Motor Power and Suction
- Whether it is a wet, dry or wet and dry vacuum
- The filtration system
- The attachments that come with the vacuum
To further simplify things I have divided the round up into three sections:
- Household hoovers
- Wet hoovers and
- Battery powered hoovers
Household Vacuums
Henry
The Original Allrounder
Capacity | 6L |
Weight | 7.5kg |
Motor power | 620W |
Suction | 2300mm H2O |
Attachments | Standard Henry Kit – Combi tool – Dusting brush – Mattress/upholstery brush |
The Henry Hoover vacuum cleaner, with its recognizable face and superior cleaning capabilities, has become an emblematic figure in the world of domestic appliances.
Known for its durability, the vacuum is built to withstand the rigors of heavy use, making it a favorite not only in homes but also in professional settings.
Henry is a cylindrical vacuum collecting dust in sealed HEPA filtration bags which are replaced once full. He has a generous bag capacity of 6L, weighs 7.5kg and with his 10m cord and extended cleaning wand has a cleaning are of 26m. His 620W motor produces a suction power of 2300mm H2O which we can use to compare the suction of other models.
Henry’s attachments are what we will refer to as the Standard Henry Kit and consist of
- Combination floor tool
- Dusting tool
- Crevice tool
- Upholstery and mattress tool
Henry Pet
Perfect for Pet Owners
Capacity | 9L |
Weight | 8.0kg |
Motor Power | 620W |
Suction | 2300mm H2O |
Attachments | Standard Henry Kit + – EcoBrush |
Filtration | Activated charcoal MicroFresh filter |
The Henry Pet vacuum is a great choice for pet owners facing an ongoing battle against pet hair and dander in the home. With a specialised brush and modified filter, this vacuum’s purpose in life is to remove all allergens, dander and hair left behind on furniture, carpets and floors. Henry Pet has the same standard Henry attachments but has 3 main differences:
Henry Pet has a bigger 9L capacity compared to 6L – homes with pets generally produce more mess and hair and require more vacuuming
Henry Pet has a special EcoBrush which uses the suction of the vacuum to turbo spin an internal brush that beats the carpet and draws out stubborn cat and dog hair. It is similar to the Airobrush which comes with Henry Xtra and Henry Home except it is narrower (190mm) and thereby creates more suction power
The final difference is Henry Pet also has an activated charcoal MicroFresh Filter which reduces lingering smells. These filters have three layers, one of which is infused with charcoal which effectively traps and reduces lingering odours
Henry Home
Specialised Tools for Specialised Home Cleaning
Capacity | 6L |
Weight | 8.5kg |
Motor Power | 620W |
Suction | 2300mm H2O |
Attachments | Standard Henry Kit + – Hard floor tool – Multi angle tool – Flexi crevice tool – Airobrush |
Henry Home is essentially Henry with the standard Henry attachments, however this one has the addition of four extra tools
Hard Floor Tool
This attachment has fine bristles on the front and back for use on all hard floors, including laminate, tile, vinyl and hardwood. Another feature is the gaps in the bristles along the front that allow larger particles to be sucked up. It is lighter and slimmer than the combi unit, which increases suction power and maneuverability.
Multi Angle Tool
The multi angle tool is used for cleaning hard to reach places such as the tops of wardrobes, fridges and shelves. The easily attached fine bristled brush connects to the tool and the angle of attack can be changed
Flexi Crevice Tool
This clever, thin tool can be flexed under and around objects such as under the couch, the side of the couch, behind the desk, under the radiator, under the car seat and in the dryer
Airobrush
The Airobrush has a rotating brush that is driven by the suction power of the vacuum cleaner. It increases the suction and cleaning performance for stubborn dust and comes into its own with animal hair. The Airobrush is larger and wider than HenryPet’s Ecobrush, so the power is not as concentrated.
Henry Allergy
Perfect for people with allergies
Capacity | 6L |
Weight | 7.5kg |
Motor Power | 620W |
Suction | 2300mm H2O |
Attachments | Standard Henry Kit |
Filter | Tritex HEPA filter HepaFlo dust bags HEPA 13 filter |
Henry Allergy is specifically engineered for households looking to minimise the impact of allergens. With the addition of a specialised floor tool and a third filter, it traps the finest particles including pet dander, pollen, and dust mites – common triggers for allergy sufferers.
Freeflo tool
The FreeFlo appliance has a rubberized floor strip that allows you to switch between carpet and hard floors without changing the setting. The rubber strip loosens hair from the carpet for more effective removal. The FreeFlo has no rotating brushes that accumulate hair, which means no more trying to cut hair off when needed, resulting in less exposure to allergens. The vacuum cleaner also has a flat head, making it easier to get under furniture.
Filtration
All dry Henry Hoovers have a 2 tier filtration system which includes a tritex HEPA filter and HEPAFO bags which collect the dust. Henry Allergy has the addition of a third filter called a HEPA 13 filter which surrounds the motor and prevents anything from escaping the vacuum. As is standard on all Henrys, the HEPAFLO bags are all self sealing when they need to be changed, further reducing exposure to dust and allergens.
Henry Eco
Henry with a Smaller Carbon Footprint
Capacity | 6L |
Weight | 7.7kg |
Motor Power | 420W |
Suction | 1750mm H2O |
Attachments | Standard Henry Kit + EcoBrush |
Henry Eco has the same capacity, cleaning range and standard Henry Kit as the original, but the 2 differences are in its more efficient motor and the addition of a specialised brush. The packaging of Henry Eco is also made from 80% recycled material
Motor
Henry Eco has a motor that is only 420W compared to Henry whose motor is 620W. This represents a 30% reduction in electricity used
EcoBrush
The eco brush uses the suction of the vacuum to turbo spin an internal brush that beats the carpet and draws out stubborn cat and dog hair. It is similar to the Airobrush which comes with Henry Xtra and Henry Home except it is narrower (190mm) and thereby creates more suction power. The addition of this turbo charged floor head cleverly compensates for the reduction in power.
James
Lighter but Bigger
Capacity | 8L |
Weight | 620W |
Motor Power | 620W |
Suction | 2300mm H2O |
Attachments | Standard Henry Kit |
James is our first variation in size and appearance of the Henrys so far. The first obvious difference is he does not have the cable rewind mechanism or an enclosed space for the cable. Instead the cable has to be manually wound by hand.
The main advantage of this is it has enabled James to have an additional 2 L capacity for a total capacity of 8L compared to Henry’s 6L. Despite the increased capacity he is also lighter than Henry, coming in at 6kg compared to Henry at 7.5kg
Henry Xtra
Xtra Capacity and Xtra Tools
Capacity | 9L |
Weight | 8.0kg |
Motor Power | 620W |
Suction | 2300mm H2O |
Attachments | Standard Henry Kit + – Airobrush – Hard floor tool |
Henry Xtra is bigger. With a total capacity of 9L compared to Henry’s 6L, he is the biggest dry vacuum in the Henry range. He also has the addition of 2 tools – the Airobrush and the Hard Floor Tool
Airobrush
The Airobrush also has a rotating brush that is driven by the suction power of the vacuum cleaner. It increases the suction and cleaning performance for stubborn dust and comes into its own with animal hair. The Airobrush is larger and wider than HenryPet’s Ecobrush, so the power is not as concentrated.
Hard Floor Tool
The Hard Floor Tool is a specialist tool for use on hard floors. It has a lightweight and slim design to maximise the suction. There are rows of bristles on the front with regular gaps in them to allow entry of dirt and the row of bristles on the back prevents dirt from escaping. Even large particles can be cleaned without lifting the head off the floor or being ‘snow-ploughed’.
Wet Vacuums
Henry Wash
A Wet only Carpet and Hard Floor Cleaner
Capacity | 9L |
Weight | 12.7kg |
Motor Power | 1000W |
Suction | 2400mm H2O |
Attachments | Dual scrub/wet floor tool Upholstery tool Fishtail tool |
Henry wash is a wet only carpet cleaner which doesn’t have a dry vacuum function.
He has a large capacity of 9L, comes in at a heavier weight of 12.7kg and has a very powerful motor of 1000W compared to Henry’s 620W
Henry Wash has a specialised wet kit for carpet, hard floors and upholstery which includes:
- Dual Scrub/wet pick up tool
- Upholstery tool
- Fishtail tool
Dual Scrub/Wet Pick Up Tool
Henry Wash has a dual scrubbing tool that has a scrubbing brush on one side that is used to loosen grease and scrub the hard floor. After cleaning, the other side is used to suck up the wet shampoo and residue on the floor.
Fishtail device
The Fishtail device is used for cleaning carpets. From a specially designed recovery tank, water is mixed with a detergent and fed into a diffuser that distributes it evenly across the floor. Its powerful motor is then activated to remove dirt and moisture.
Upholstery Tool
The upholstery cleaning device works in a similar way to the fishtail device. It is smaller and more concentrated and is therefore particularly suitable for smaller areas, e.g. for cleaning furniture and cars
George
George Does Everything: Wet and Dry
Capacity | 15L |
Weight | 14.7kg |

Capacity | 9L |
Weight | 9.0kg |
Motor Power | 1060W |
Suction | 2400mm H2O |
Attachments | Standard Henry Kit + – Multiflo wet tool |
Charles can perform both as a wet and dry vacuum, the difference between Henry Wash and George being that he can only function as a wet vacuum on hard floors only – he lacks the specialist tools for carpet cleaning
Being a dry vacuum, he comes with the standard Henry Kit and for using the wet function on hard floors, he comes with the MultiFlo Wet Pick up Tool
MultiFlo Wet Pick Up Tool
This floor head has a narrow profile and lightweight design consisting simply of 2 rubber rows that trap and collect the wet residue
Battery Vacuums
Henry Quick
Henry’s Cordless Stick Vacuum
Capacity | 1L |
Weight | 3.2kg |
Power | 25.2V |
Run time | 70 mins (low) 16 mins (high) |
Charge Time | 150 mins |
Henry Quick is a battery powered stick vacuum which comes in 3 colours. Along with all other Henry Vacuums, the quick also collects dust in bags or ‘Pods’. These pods have a large capacity of 1L and can be easily disposed of without touching or being exposed to a puff of dust
Henry Quick has 3 attachments:

A crevice attachment is also included for in between the sofa or in the car. The kit can be attached directly to Henry Quick or also to the end of the wand.
Motorised Brush
The power of the vacuum rotates the brush at high speed to collect dust, hair and fur. The head is very flexible and can swivel very easily. There is also a vent which can be opened to reduce suction on loose carpets or rugs. The brush can be easily removed for simple removal of tangled hair and fur.
Quick Mini Motorised Tool
This tool is found in Henry Quick Pet but can be purchased as a stand alone product to use if you already have a Henry Quick. It is a compact head which also has rows of brushes for focused areas on cleaning pet hair on small areas of carpet or furniture.

Henry Cordless still comes with the standard kit consisting of
- Combi floor tool
- Crevice tool
- Dusting brush
- Upholstery/mattress tool
Jonno
Jonno is a homeware and vacuum geek who has tried them all, but always comes back to Henry hoovers for their performance and reliability. After helping Suzie get her blog up and running, he developed a (healthy) interest/obsession in learning and trialing the vacuums and loves contributing everything he has learned.
